“We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” (2Peter 1:16-19) ..

This was written by the Apostle, Simon Peter, before he was martyred during the reign of Nero. Written sometime between AD65 and 68. Peter was an eyewitness to the supernatural events in the life of Jesus. In this account, he heard the voice of God at the TRANSFIGURATION of Jesus Christ on the mountain.

TRANSFIGURATION: a change of form or figure; the supernatural change in the personal apperance of Jesus Christ on the mount.

This was a revelation of the glory of the Son of God. His appearance changed into his glorified state.(Matt.17:1-5}….”.there he was, transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.

TO TRANSFIGURE: To change the outward form or appearance of…to give an elevated or glorified appearance to….

Peter was an eyewitness;

AN EYEWITNESS: One who sees a thing done; one who has ocular view of anything

Peter HEARD the voice of God from heaven…

TO HEAR:  to perceive by the auditory sense; to listen to..

What does Peter mean when the “MORNING STAR” rises in your hearts?

MORNING STAR: comes from the Daystar. meaning, .light-giving..

Jesus called himself the “bright Moning Star”…”I am the root and the offspring of David and the bright Morning Star: {Revelation 22:16b)

We would do well to heed the apostle Peter who has seen and heard from the living God……. an eyewitness……..for man is without excuse………

May Jesus, who brings us from darkness into the light dwell in our hearts until we meet him face to face.
