“I believe in a peace that flows deeper than pain”

Psalm 84:5-7a.. “Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage(Godly path). As they pass through the Valley of Baca( hurt, grief, loss, weeping), they make it a place of springs ; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength,..(11-12) For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.”

What is God’s favor and honor? What are the good things of God?

Favor: A state of being looked on with goodwill or kindness; an act of grace or goodwill; a token of love….

Honor: Exalted rank or place, title or privilege, high estimation, distinction….

What about  those that suffer every day; where everything seems hopeless? Life on earth is a challenge due to sickness, abuse, poverty, tragedy, pain, suffering and sometimes there seems no solution, no end in sight. So why do some of us continue to suffer?( especially followers of Christ who dedicate their lives to Him and do his work faithfully.)

Could it be the favor, honor and “good things” referred here in Psalm 84 have nothing to do with earthly riches, health, bodily strength, or world success by man’s standard?

“Honors and riches, bodily strength are none of God’s good things”…..(Charles Spurgeon)

Worldly things come and go and eventually pass away.

The “good things” of God and his “favor” are chiefly:

1. God’s daily and constant Presence in our lives……..    “God has said, Never will I leave you nor forsake you.”(Hebrews 13: 5b)

“And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.” (Matt:28:20b)

“Where can I flee from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens you are there; If I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”(Psalm 139: 7-10)

2. God’s love…..

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(Romans 8:38-39)

“The Lord appeared to us in the past saying:”I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness.”(Jeremiah 31:3)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”(John3:16)

3. God’s peace……. “And the peace of God that transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”(Phil: 4:7)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”(John 14:27)

4. The Joy of the indwelling Holy Spirit………”You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence”.(Acts 2:28)

“So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”(John 16:22)

5. God’s Patience with us…….”He(the Lord) is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”(2Peter 3:9b)

6.God’s Grace…..”My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2Cor:9)

7. The Promise..the expectation of Heaven and the glorious face of God revealed when He calls us Home…..

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:1-2)

“In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”(John 16:16)

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Rev: 21: 1-4)

Thank you God,  that  your “good things, favor and honor”are not temporary, but will last until eternity and sustain us through every trial, temptation and tragedy we may have to face while here on earth.

“I believe in a peace that flows deeper than pain”

Jehovah Bara – The God who creates something out of nothing.

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)

“Create in me a pure heart O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”(Psalm 51:10)

To create: to produce from nothing: to make or form, by investing with a new character…

God of mercy, God of grace..You amaze me.

Exodus 22:21-22 “Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them,”Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb. Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. Not one of you shall go out the door of his house until morning. When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.”

God instructed the Israelites to select animals “without defect”…Jesus was described both in the Old and New Testaments as the perfect sacrifical lamb.

John 1:29 “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,”Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

1Peter 1:18-19 “For you know that it was not with perishaable things…that you were redeemed from the empty way of life..but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

Isaiah 53:7 “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, ……..

1Cor:5:7b “For Christ , our PassoverLamb, has been sacrificed”

Christ, the Lamb of God was crucified on Passover Day, and his death on the cross fulfilled the true meaning of the Jewish sacrifice of the Passover lamb. Just as the Israelite households  were spared by the blood on the doorposts when God struck down the Egyptians, so are we saved from eternal death  by the precious blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross.

Jesus ate the Passover meal with his disciples the night before his crucifixion.

Luke 22:8″Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover” vs 14-15 “When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” This meal is referred to in the Christian Church as The Last Supper.

Matthew 26:26-28 “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying,”Take and eat; this is my body. Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

The bread represented Christ’s body sacrificed for our sins, and the wine represented his blood shed during his crucifixion.

JESUS…Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah…Jesus, the Passover Lamb, Savior of the world for those who believe!

God uses big words to help explain his plan of salvation. Righteous, Righteousness, Justify, Justification, Reconciliation, Grace.

Romans 4:24-25: “also for us, to whom God will credit Righteousness for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our Justification.”

Righteous: free from guilt or sin

Righteousness: the quality of being righteous, the state of being right with God

Justify: to pardon and clear from guilt or blame, to treat as just, though guilty and deserving punishment

Justification: acceptance of a sinner as righteous through the merits of Jesus Christ

Romans 5:1 ” Therefore, since we have been Justified through  faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into his Grace in which we now stand.”

Grace: mercy, pardon,  the love and favor of God, a state of reconciliation to God

Romans 5:11 “..but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have now received Reconciliation.”

Reconciliation: agreement of things seemingly opposite or inconsistent, atonement (atonement: the reconciliation of God with man through Jesus Christ)

Romans 5:20  “….But where sin increased, Grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also Grace might reign through Righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

We are declared Righteous by God, Justified and Reconciled to Him by his Grace, if we accept His free gift of Salvation – Faith and Belief in His Son , the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you God for the gift of Eternal Life. Life here on earth is but a vapor. Eternity is Forever.

What does Glory mean?…. praise, honor, a state of greatness, magnificence, brightness, lustre, splendour, the happiness of heaven, celestial bliss, distinguished honor.

The words, Glory, Glorify, Glorious, Glorified are found numerous times in Scripture.

The Glory of God is the worthiness of God….the presence of God in the fullness of his attributes in some place or everywhere…”The whole earth is full of his glory” (Isaiah 6:3) (The Lord in his full person, deity, and majesty is present in every place)

Hebrews 1:3..The Son, (Jesus Christ), is the radiance of God’s Glory and the exact representation of his being..

Three people in the Bible reached a level of Physical Glorification while living on this earth. Moses, the first martyr Stephen, and Jesus Christ himself on the Mount of Transfiguration.

Moses: Moses was a man that fasted and prayed with God 40 days and 40 nights.  Moses asked God that he might see God’s Glory; “Then Moses said,”Now show me your glory.”( Exodus 33:18)…”When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was RADIANT because he had spoken with the Lord. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was RADIANT, and they were afraid to come near him.”((Exodus 34:29)

RADIANT: (the skin of his face was shining)….shooting rays of light, shining, emitting vivid light or splendour…….Now Moses was reflecting the Divine Glory of God!

Stephen: Stephen was described in the Bible as…a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit…a man full of God’s grace and power. When Stephen was falsely accused and  brought before the Sanhedrin..”All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.” (Acts 6: 15)  Stephen experienced and reflected the Glory of God.

Jesus Christ: “After six days, Jesus took with Him Peter, James and John, the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was TRANSFIGURED before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.” (Matthew 17:1-2)

TRANSFIGURATION: A change of form or figure; the supernatural change in the personal appearance of our Savior on the mount.

TRANSFIGURE: to change the outward form or appearance of; to transform in appearance; to give an elevated or glorified appearance to; to elevate; to glorify.

So this was Jesus’ Glorified body…..

Philippians 3:20-21 says: “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly(decaying, weak, dying) bodies so that they will be like His Glorious body.” Therefore, one day we will attain Glorified bodies that will shine with light like His. That is his promise to us after death!

We who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ have been given the power from the Lord to reflect to a dying world the Glory of God.

“For God who said,”Let light shine out of darkness”, made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the face of Christ.” (2 Cor: 4: 6).

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing Glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Cor: 3: 18)

Let us reflect the divine Glory of God to those who see us, live with us, who work with us, who speak to us in our daily lives. O Lord, help us to reflect your GLORY!!

Lord, from ancient times you told your people through the prophet Isaiah..”The virgin will conceive, will give birth to a son and name Him, Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).Immanuel means “God with us.” You proved the validity and consistency of your Word; for prophecy was fulfilled when the Virgin Mary gave birth to a son…………….As a child once said,” Jesus is God with skin on it.”

JESUS – (His Hebrew name, Yeshua (which means Savior)…as He was called when he walked this earth.

JESUS – my Absolute Salvation. The Name at which every knee will one day bow. The Name that evey tongue will one day confess.

JESUS – Glory…Righteous…Holy…Lamb of God……Someday,…… He’s coming again…

JESUS – Savior…Healer…Maker…Warrior…Praise God,… He’s coming again…Let the Kingdom come….

Jesus, the Name Above all Names!

(Luke 23:4) Jesus answered him,”I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise”.

 Where was Jesus going?….  Paradise!!

Jesus gave this promise to the condemned criminal hanging beside Him on a cross, who repented and professed belief in Jesus, the Savior of mankind, and then asked Jesus to take him into His kingdom with Him……Belief – Faith – repentance – grace – eternal life –  Paradise!!

Paradise:  a place of bliss and rest between death and resurrection; heaven, a place of ideal beauty or loveliness, pleasure or delight; the abode of sanctified souls after death; a region of supreme felicity;

felicity? – the state of being happy or in extreme enjoyment, happiness,bliss;

The word Paradise is found 3 times in Scripture.

(2 Corinthians 12:3-4) “And I know that this man – whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows – was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell”.

The apostle Paul was “caught up to paradise” (where believers who have died are “at home with the Lord”). This experience (glimpse of paradise)  gave Paul the strength and faith to continue through extreme suffering and persecution.

(Revelation 2:7) ..”.to him who overcomes I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the “paradise” of God”. ……PARADISE…..the final place where God and man are restored to that perfect relationship that existed before sin entered the world.

Paradise! What a promise! What a God! Thanks be to God who gave us that voictory through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Jesus was and is the love-manifestation of God.

“Eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neither hath entered into the heart of man the things that God hath prepared for them that love Him.” (1Cor. 2:9)

Man, poised between two worlds, bearing in his frail body the glory of eternity. Man, forever failing yet forever destined to succeed. Man, defeated time and again, yet forever destined to triumph. Man, dying from generation to generation, yet forever destined to live! (`Agnes Sanford)

I love you,
